SEO: Why Pay

Advertizing for your business in the modern world is a multi-pronged approach. You have signs on the storefront, business cards, even a website. But how do you know if all these are doing any good?  You can see customers walk into your building and listen to them call your office phone – but the website? Well, not so sure. That is problem that can be solved by search engine optimization (SEO).

Websites for today’s businesses are advertisements at the most basic level. Their purpose is to inform potential customers surfing the internet about what your business is and what you have to offer – much like a billboard, yellow page ad, or printed graphic (although they can certainly get more intricate). The effectiveness of you online advertisement depends on how many people find it. Even the most amazing website would be useless to a  business if no one was able to see it. Unfortunately, many businesses are in this very situation, sometimes not even knowing that their website isn’t being found on the internet.

To make your business website visible on the internet, SEO is all it takes, but why pay someone else to do it? SEO is a time-intensive process. It involves classifying and categorizing your products and services,  describing every picture and link on each web page, and giving information about your website and pages to search engines and other sites. In other words, it’s a complicated process that requires a large sum of background knowledge. The rewards however, are new clients and new business from the people who are now able to find your website while searching on the internet.

SEO costs are often part of advertising budgets, as they both have the same goal of materializing new business. Another way that SEO is similar to other advertising campaigns, is that they both are most effective when done on a regular basis. If a business’s website grows or changes, (and if your business is growing, your website should be too) it is vital that SEO continues as well. SEO works on a page-by-page, item-by-item basis. After old information goes away and new comes in, SEO should be done so that people browsing the internet can find the new info and are not stuck looking for some info that no longer exists (which is frustrating if you’ve ever experienced it). With a competent SEO team at the helm of your website, your company will be found by people searching for exactly what you have to offer. Additionally, current and accurate SEO information always gives a positive first impression on new clients – which is well worth the costs.
